Fundraiser Kick-Off

Starting with a kick-off meeting is essential to running your fundraiser smoothly. During a kick-off session, you provide your group members with important information concerning the fundraiser, schedules, and the necessary tools to sell well.

Below we provide suggestions for running your kick-off and additional resources for you to use during the meeting.

Ways to Hold a Kick-Off

  • Virtually: If your members are far and wide or have conflicting schedules, use our videos to share introductory information or create your own. Consider including PDF information packets in screen-share during virtual meetings or send them by email.

  • In-Person Assembly: With your group members gathered in a shared space, present important information all at once and hand out printed packets of information. This opens up the option for group members to have questions answered together.

  • Group-by-Group: Sometimes you are guiding much larger groups, such as in schools or sports. Consider having teachers and coaches present the information to their classes.


Information to Include in Your Meeting

  • What is the program: Introduce your fundraising program, which company it is through, what the products are, and how it will work (with paper, online, or dual selling system).

  • Tell Your Story: Get your sellers excited by reminding them what the funds are going towards. Give them a positive outcome to look forward to.

  • Your Profit Goal: Give your sellers a finish line to achieve. Announce how you can help them track their progress towards that goal, such as with a goal thermometer.

  • Important Dates: It is essential your sellers know when the fundraiser starts, stops, and when the delivery is, so they can pick their product up in a timely fashion.

  • Do’s and Don’ts of Selling: Provide guidance on safe selling tactics and introduce examples of fundraising scripts.

  • Incentives (Optional): Sometimes your sellers need more immediate goals to achieve than the bigger funding picture. Adding incentives to your fundraiser can help keep their momentum going to achieve constant smaller wins when they sell a certain number of units.
